Wendy Doolan
Wendy Doolan (born 16 December 1968) is a former Australian professional golfer who played mainly on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. Doolan was born in Sydney, Australia. She started playing golf at the age of 14. In 1991 she was runner-up at the British Ladies Amateur and she turned professional later that year. In the early years of her career, Doolan played in Asia and Europe and on the second tier Futures Tour in the United States. She tied for 21st at the 1995 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament and has played on the LPGA Tour from 1996 to 2012. Her three victories on the Tour came at the 2001 LPGA Champions Classic, the 2003 Welch's/Fry's Championship and the 2004 Evian Masters. The Evian Masters, which is played in France, is the second richest event in women's golf after the U.S. Women's Open, and is recognised as a major championship by the Ladies European Tour. Commonwealth Trophy
The Astor Trophy is a women's team golf tournament between teams of amateurs golfers from Great Britain and Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. It has been played every four years since 1959. From its foundation until 2007 it was called the Commonwealth Trophy. South Africa did not compete from 1963 to 1991. While it was called the Commonwealth Trophy, Irish golfers were not eligible. The trophy was presented by Nancy Astor, Viscountess Astor. Format Each team plays the other four teams. Two matches are played each day, the tournament lasting five days. Each match is contested over one day with foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. 1990 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1990 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 18–21 October at Russley Golf Club in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was the 14th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 26 team entries, each with three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States team won the Trophy, defending their title from two years ago and earning the title for the 11th time, beating the hosting country team New Zealand by 12 strokes. New Zealand earned the silver medal while the combined team of Great Britain & Ireland took the bronze on third place another eight strokes back. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did. They had originally bought the golden cup, which had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, for an international Portuguese event that was not played anymore. The Women's Victorian Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1988 and played annually through 1992. Annika Charlotta Sörenstam (; born 9 October 1970) is a Swedish professional golfer. She is regarded as one of the best female golfers in history. Before stepping away from competitive golf at the end of the 2008 season, she had won 90 international tournaments as a professional, making her the female golfer with the most wins to her name. She has won 72 official LPGA tournaments including ten majors and 24 other tournaments internationally. The 2004 LPGA Tour was a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place from March through December 2004. The tournaments were sanctioned by the United States-based Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). This was the 55th season since the LPGA Tour officially began in 1950.
