Weightlifting at the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville was held between September 7–9, 2015 while Powerlifting was held on September 11 and 12, 2015. It also counted as 2015 African Weightlifting Championships. Only total medals counted for African Games while snatch and clean & jerk medals counted for the African Weightlifting Championships. Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic weightlifting, or Olympic-style weightlifting (officially named Weightlifting), is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with each athlete trying to successfully lift the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead: these are the snatch and the clean and jerk. The ''snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the clean), and then from the shoulders to overhead (the jerk). The clean and press, wherein a clean was followed by an overhead press, was formerly also a competition lift, but was discontinued due to difficulties in judging proper form. Housseyn Fardjallah (16 January 1993 – 20 November 2016) was an Algerian male weightlifter, competing in the 77 kg category and representing Algeria at international competitions. As a junior, he competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in the boys' 69 kg event. He participated at the 2013 Mediterranean Games in the 77 kg event. He won the bronze medal at the 2015 African Games The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.
