Fred Weick
Fred Ernest Weick (1899–1993) was an airmail pilot, research engineer, and aircraft designer. Working at the NACA, he won the 1929 Collier Trophy for his design of the NACA cowling for radial air-cooled engines. Weick's aircraft designs include the Ercoupe, Piper PA-25 Pawnee, and Cherokee. Life A 1922 graduate of the University of Illinois, he was one of the first university graduates to apply his degree to a career in aeronautics. Weick was also one of the first engineers hired by the original U.S. Air Mail Service. His efforts in the early 1920s to establish emergency fields for night-flying mail pilots addressed a major challenge. Weick worked for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) at its Langley Aeronautical Laboratory, in Hampton, Virginia beginning in November 1925. Christine Weick (born 1962) is an American Christian activist and author who gained national exposure during the 2010s. She has protested against Muslims inside Muslim places of worship, against gay rights, and holiday traditions like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Bill Weick (1932 – 16 August 2017) was an American wrestler best known for his athletic and coaching career in the Midwestern United States. Wrestling After winning the 1949 Illinois state title at Tilden Tech High School, Weick won two NCAA titles competing for the University of Northern Iowa in 1952 and 1955. During 1953–1954, he served in the U.S. Army. Weick was a member of the first U.S. World Greco-Roman wrestling team in 1961. He was a runner-up at the AAU National Championships three times, and was a seven-time placewinner competing in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. From 1961–65, Weick trained for international wrestling with the San Francisco Olympic Club.
