Wegger Christian Strømmen
Wegger Christian Strømmen (born 14 June 1959) is a Norwegian diplomat and politician who is Political Director of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was born in Larvik, Norway and holds a master's of law degree from the University of Oslo Law School. Wegger Christian Strømmen became Norwegian Ambassador to the United Kingdom in January 2019. He was Norwegian Ambassador to the United States in 2007–2013. He served as Norway's permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva from 2005 to 2007, acted as deputy permanent representative of Norway's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2002 to 2005, as well as deputy permanent representative to the U.N. The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( Norwegian (Bokmål): ''Det kongelige utenriksdepartement''; Norwegian (Nynorsk): ''Det kongelege utanriksdepartement'') is the foreign ministry of the Kingdom of Norway. It was established on June 7, 1905, the same day the Parliament of Norway (Stortinget) decided to dissolve the personal union with Sweden. The ministry is headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, currently Anniken Huitfeldt, who is a minister in the Støre cabinet that has governed since 14 October 2021. The ministry also has a Minister of International Development. Larvik
Larvik () is a List of cities in Norway, town and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Larvik. The municipality of Larvik has about 46,364 inhabitants. The municipality has a 110 km coastline, only shorter than that of neighbouring Sandefjord. The city achieved market town status in 1671. Thorvald Stoltenberg
Thorvald Stoltenberg (8 July 1931 – 13 July 2018) was a Norwegian politician and diplomat. He served as Minister of Defence from 1979 to 1981 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1987 to 1989 and again from 1990 to 1993 in two Labour governments. From 1989 to 1990 he served as the Norwegian ambassador to the UN. In 1990, he became the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees but served only one year before he rejoined the Norwegian government. In 1992, Stoltenberg, together with nine Baltic Ministers of Foreign Affairs and an EU commissioner, founded the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the EuroFaculty. State Secretary (Norway)
In Norway, a state secretary ( no, statssekretær) is a partisan political position within the executive branch of government. Contrary to the position secretary of state in many other countries, a Norwegian state secretary does not head his or her ministry, rather, they are second in rank to a minister. Resembling a ''de facto'' vice minister, the state secretary, however, cannot attend a Council of State, and does not act as a temporary minister in case of illness or other leave of absence. Modern use The modern state secretary institution was established in 1947, following a 78-41 vote in the Norwegian Parliament. Mona Juul (born 10 April 1959) is an official in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former politician for the Labour Party. Juul hails from Sparbu, and was educated in political science. She played a key role facilitating the Oslo Accords in the 1990s. On 25 July 2019, Juul was elected President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
