Wednesday's Downtown
is a Japanese variety show hosted by the Japanese owarai duo, Downtown. The show has been broadcast on TBS since 2014. Overview In each episode, a Japanese entertainer is invited to appear on the show as a host and present various trivial theories, to a group of panellists. After a brief discussion with the panel, the theories are tested during the show. Format Presentation of Theory An entertainer (usually a comedian) appears to present a theory they think is true. This theory is challenged by the Wednesday Downtown via a re-enactment of the situation, a ranking based on street surveys or interviews. Viewer's Theory Theories submitted by viewers via the Wednesday Downtown official website are collected and presented by a representing comedian, usually Tamura Kenji. is a Japanese television program that airs on Friday nights at 11:17 pm on the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation channel. The premise of the show is of a Detective Agency which takes requests from the viewers. The 'detectives' on the show go on an investigation, which typically involves searching for people/places, street surveys, local reports, overcoming fears and experiments. The detective is typically accompanied by the viewer who made the request. The show is based out of the city of Osaka but frequently involves travel to other parts of Japan. Food-related requests are often brought to the professional celebrity chef Hayashi Hirohito. As of February 2009, the duo belongs to the management company K Dash Stage Co., Ltd. Biography Formed under the name of in 2000, Kasuga initially was the ''tsukkomi'' ("straight man") and Wakabayashi the ''boke'' ("funny man"). After almost 6 years of unsuccessful activities, Wakabayashi was one day told by a TV playwright in person that his mate, Kasuga, is as a ''tsukkomi'', and that he had "better look for another mate".
