The wedding dress of Alexandra of Denmark, Princess Alexandra of Denmark was worn at her Wedding of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, and Princess Alexandra of Denmark, wedding to Edward VII, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales on 10 March 1863 in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. It was the first in British royal history to be photographed while being worn. The gown was made by London dressmaker Mrs James of Belgravia. It is now part of the British Royal Collection. In 2011, the dress was part of a display of royal wedding dresses at Kensington Palace. Design The dress was made of white silk satin (the silk was woven at Spitalfields) trimmed with orange blossoms, myrtle, puffs of tulle and Honiton lace. It had a similarly trimmed silver moire (fabric), moiré train (clothing), train, which was carried by eight young ladies aged 15 to 20. Alexandra of Denmark (Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia; 1 December 1844 – 20 November 1925) was Queen of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India, from 22 January 1901 to 6 May 1910 as the wife of King-Emperor Edward VII. Alexandra's family had been relatively obscure until 1852, when her father, Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, was chosen with the consent of the major European powers to succeed his second cousin Frederick VII as king of Denmark. At the age of sixteen Alexandra was chosen as the future wife of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, the son and heir apparent of Queen Victoria. Sidmouth () is a town on the English Channel in Devon, South West England, southeast of Exeter.
