''Wedding Day'' (Italian: ''Giorno di nozze'') is a 1942 Italian " white-telephones" comedy film directed by Raffaello Matarazzo and starring Armando Falconi, Amelia Chellini and Anna Proclemer.Gundle p.174 It was shot at the Cinecitta Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Gastone Medin and Gino Brosio. Raffaello Matarazzo
Raffaello Matarazzo (17 August 1909 – 17 May 1966) was an Italian filmmaker. Life Matarazzo started writing film reviews for the Roman newspaper ''Il Tevere'' before re-editing scripts for the Italian film company Cines. His first films were comedies until he shifted to making melodramas. With '' Catene'', produced by Titanus in 1949, he became the most successful director in Italy. Audience loved his melodramas. Critics, however, have tended to disparage his work, saying that Matarazzo films were ''Neorealismo d'appendice'' (neorealism wannabe). Paola Borboni (1 January 1900 – 9 April 1995) was an Italian stage and film actress whose career spanned nine decades of cinema. Early life Borboni was born on 1 January 1900 in Parma, Italy. Career Borboni made her stage debut in 1916, beginning to take minor film roles soon afterwards. She entered film in 1916 in the silent picture ''Jacobo Ortis'' directed by Giuseppe Sterni, and made over 80 film appearances between then and 1990. Appearing in several silent films before 1921 she was absent from cinema for some 14 years during which time she made numerous stage appearances. Roberto Villa (born Giulio Sabetta; December 2, 1915 – June 30, 2002) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Casablanca, Villa completed his studies at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and he eventually made his way up to acting. He made his film debut in the 1936 film ''The Great Appeal'' directed by Mario Camerini.
