Weddell, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Weddell is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin City. Weddell is located on land and some adjoining waters which are bounded in part by the Blackmore River in the west, the Elizabeth River in the east and the Cox Peninsula Road in the south. The locality was named after the satellite town proposed during the late 1980s to be located to the south of the Darwin urban area and which was named after Robert Weddell who served as the Government Resident of North Australia from 1927 to 1931 and as the Administrator of the Northern Territory from 1931 to 1937. In 2010, the Northern Territory Government convened a forum to consider options for a future city located within the current locality's boundaries. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Results from the 2016 census were available to the public on 11 April 2017, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website, two months earlier than for any previous census. Robert Weddell
Robert Hunter Weddell (26 December 1882 – 23 November 1951) was an Australian soldier and government administrator, who served as Government Resident of North Australia and Administrator of the Northern Territory. Life and career Weddell was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1882. During World War I, Weddell served as a major in the 7th Battalion of the Australian Imperial Force. His period of service included being an officer at the Battle of Gallipoli in 1915, where he was the only officer from the front two companies who survived. He married Flora (née McDonald) in April 1916, while he was serving in the Armed Forces. He left the army in 1917. In 1926, Weddell was appointed Government Resident of North Australia. In 1936, he moved to the role of Administrator of the Northern Territory. He retired from this post in 1937, as a result of difficulties arising from angina. Cox Peninsula Road
The Cox Peninsula Road is a rural road in the Northern Territory of Australia linking the Cox Peninsula and western shore of Darwin Harbour to the Stuart Highway in the rural suburb of Noonamah on the outskirts of Darwin. The route is approximately and passes through the town of Berry Springs as well as the rural areas of Tumbling Waters and Blackmore heading west, before turning north towards the Indigenous community of Belyuen. __NOTOC__ Wickham is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin City and which overlooks Darwin Harbour. Wickham is located on land and adjoining waters associated with a peninsula of land known as Wickham Point (formerly Middle Point) which is bounded in part by the following bodies of water in Darwin Harbour - the East Arm to the north and by Middle Arm to the south-west. The locality was named after Wickham Point, which itself is named after John Clements Wickham, the British naval officer who named Darwin Harbour. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 21 April 2004.
