Wear is the damaging, gradual removal or deformation of material at Solid, solid surfaces. Causes of wear can be mechanical (e.g., erosion) or Chemistry, chemical (e.g., corrosion). The study of wear and related processes is referred to as tribology. Wear in machine elements, together with other processes such as fatigue (material), fatigue and creep (deformation), creep, causes functional surfaces to degrade, eventually leading to material failure or loss of functionality. Thus, wear has large economic relevance as first outlined in the Tribology#The Jost report, Jost Report. Abrasive wear alone has been estimated to cost 1-4% of the gross national product of industrialized nations. Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Willem van Gogh (; 30 March 185329 July 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionism, Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life.
