Waywords And Meansigns Opendoor Edition
The ''Waywords and Meansigns Opendoor Edition'' debuted in 2017 as a part of the Waywords and Meansigns project setting James Joyce's ''Finnegans Wake'' to music. The Opendoor Edition features over 100 artists and musicians performing unabridged passages of ''Finnegans Wake.'' An open edition, participants are invited to contribute to the Opendoor Edition on an ongoing basis. The edition first premiered May 4, 2017. The genres represented in the Waywords and Meansigns Opendoor Edition are quite diverse, ranging from metal and industrial to folk and jazz. ''Waywords and Meansigns: Recreating Finnegans Wake n its whole wholume' is an international project setting James Joyce's novel ''Finnegans Wake'' to music. Waywords and Meansigns has released two editions of audio, each offering an unabridged musical adaptation of Joyce's book. A third edition, featuring over 100 artists and performing much shorter passages of the book, debuted May 4, 2017. The project brought together a diverse array of musicians. An artist or group performed each chapter in the first two editions; artists performed shorter, page-length passages in the third edition. The musicians only requirements were that "the words be audible, unabridged and more or less in their original order". With a goal of making Joyce's famously obscure novel more accessible, all audio from the project is distributed freely online. Jason Sebastian Russo
Jason Sebastian Russo (born August 16, 1973, in Yonkers, New York) is an American rock musician. He was a member of Mercury Rev from 1994 to 2001, and rejoined in 2011 for the Don't Look Back concert series Deserter's Songs reunion tour. He founded the psychedelic rock band Hopewell in high school. Hopewell has since gone on hiatus. They released their fifth album, ''Good Good Desperation'', on Tee Pee Records in 2009. He is also leader of the band Common Prayer. Common Prayer's debut record ''There Is A Mountain'' was released in the UK by Big Potato Records, a label founded in part by Slowdive's Neil Halstead. Mahārāja (; also spelled Maharajah, Maharaj) is a Sanskrit title for a "great ruler", "great king" or " high king". Seán Mac Erlaine (born 30 July 1976) is an Irish musician and composer specialising in woodwinds and electronics. He studied jazz performance in Newpark Music Centre under Ronan Guilfoyle where he also taught for a number of years before completing his formal education at Dublin Institute of Technology where he was awarded a Masters in Jazz Performance as well as a PhD focusing on solo woodwind performance with live electronics. Peter Chrisp (born 20 May 1958) is a British children's author of books on history. Chris Rael is an eclectic American musician, singer, composer, and songwriter. He is the founder and leader of Indo-pop band Church of Betty, based in New York City. Michael David Watt (born December 20, 1957) is an American bassist, vocalist and songwriter.
