Wayne Simoneau
Wayne A. Simoneau (January 17, 1935 – May 21, 2017) was an American politician. Born and raised in Washburn, Wisconsin, Simoneau served in the Minnesota National Guard. He went to Dunwoody College of Technology and to Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Simoneau also went to the George Washington University and University of Minnesota. He worked as a mechanic and lived in Fridley, Minnesota. Simoneau served as deputy county auditor for Anoka County, Minnesota from 1989 to 1991. From 1975 to 1995, Simoneau served in the Minnesota House of Representatives and was a Democrat. In 1995, Simoneau resigned from the Minnesota Legislature when he was appointed deputy commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Employee Relations. Simoneau then served as commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Finance from 1996 to 1999. Washburn, Wisconsin
Washburn is a city in Bayfield County, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,051 at the 2020 census. The city is just east of and adjacent to the Town of Washburn. It is in northern Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay. Wisconsin Highway 13 and County Highway C are the main routes in the community. History In 1659, the French explorers Radisson and Groseilliers touched here on their trip along the south shore of Lake Superior. In 1665 the Jesuit Claude-Jean Allouez established on the shore of the bay, a short distance south of the present city, the first French mission in Wisconsin. Blaine, Minnesota
Blaine is a suburban city in Anoka and Ramsey counties in the State of Minnesota, United States. Once a rural town, Blaine's population has increased significantly in the last 60 years. For several years, Blaine led the Twin Cities metro region in new home construction. The population was 70,222 at the 2020 census. The city is located mainly in Anoka County, and is part of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Interstate 35W, U.S. Highway 10, and Minnesota State Highway 65 are three of the main routes in the city. History Phillip Leddy, a native of Ireland, was recorded in the 1857 census as having settled in the township of Anoka until his death in 1872, on land that later became Blaine. Dunwoody College of Technology is a private technology school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees. History Dunwoody College was founded as a technical institute in 1914, when Minneapolis businessman William Hood Dunwoody left three million dollars in his will to "provide for all time a place where youth without distinction on account of race, color or religious prejudice, may learn the useful trades and crafts, and thereby fit themselves for the better performance of life's duties."
