Wayne Edwards (baseball)
Wayne Maurice Edwards (born March 7, 1964) is an American former professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago White Sox of the Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the White Sox in the 10th round of the 1985 Major League Baseball Draft. He was the drummer with V.I.E.W., an alternative rock band whose lead vocalist was fellow White Sox pitcher Jack McDowell. His father Wayne Sr. was the drummer with The Hondells The Hondells were an American surf rock band. Their cover of the Beach Boys' "Little Honda" went to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum.
