Wayatinah
Wayatinah is a rural locality in the local government area of Central Highlands Council, Central Highlands in the Central LGA Region, Central region of Tasmania. It is located about north-west of the town of Hamilton, Tasmania, Hamilton. The 2016 Australian census, 2016 census determined a population of 34 for the state suburb of Wayatinah. History Wayatinah was gazetted as a locality in 1971. The name is an Aboriginal Tasmanians, Aboriginal word meaning “brook”. Geography The Derwent River (Tasmania), Derwent River enters from the west, flows through Wayatinah Lagoon and then south, where it forms most of the southern boundary. Road infrastructure The Lyell Highway (A10) enters from the east and runs through to the north-west, where it exits. Route C604 (Long Spur Road) starts at an intersection with A10 and runs south through Wayatinah Forest Reserve to the Derwent River, where it ends. See also * Wayatinah Power Station References

Wayatinah Power Station
The Wayatinah Power Station is a Run-of-the-river hydroelectricity, run-of-the-river hydroelectric power station located in the Central Highlands (Tasmania), Central Highlands region of Tasmania, Australia. The power station is situated on the Derwent River (Tasmania), Lower River Derwent catchment and is owned and operated by Hydro Tasmania. Technical details Part of the River Derwent (Tasmania), Derwent scheme that comprises eleven hydroelectric power stations, the Wayatinah Power Station is the sixth power station in the scheme and the second power station in the lower run-of-river system. The power station is located aboveground below Wayatinah Lagoon, a small storage created by the rockfill dam, rock-filled Wayatinah Dam on the Derwent River below its junction with the Nive River (Tasmania), Nive River.
