Way Out West (duo)
Way Out West are an English electronic music duo comprising Jody Wisternoff and Nick Warren. Originating in Bristol, England, they rose to fame in the 1990s with their UK-charting singles " The Gift" and "Ajare", and their debut studio album '' Way Out West'' was released in 1997 to critical and commercial success. Their 2001 follow-up, ''Intensify'', also garnered chart success, along with its singles "The Fall", "Intensify" and "Mindcircus", the latter of which reached number one on the UK Dance Chart. Way Out West temporarily became a trio in 2004 with the addition of singer Omi (Emma Everett) for their third studio album, ''Don't Look Now''. In 2009, their fourth album ''We Love Machine'' was released, and after a near eight-year hiatus, they released their fifth album ''Tuesday Maybe'' in 2017. Distinct'ive Records
Distinctive Records (formerly Distinct'ive Records) is a UK based record label founded in 1995. The label has hundreds of releases from artists, most notably Hybrid, Way Out West, and Ils. History Distinctive Records was initially founded in 1995 and started out as a sublabel of Avex Recordings (UK). In 1998, Avex reorganized, closed two of its labels and only continued trading music recordings as Distinct'ive Records. In 1999, The company began categorizing its genres within the label, sometimes retitling itself "Distinct'ive Breaks", which was often mistaken to be a sublabel of Distinct'ive. The label gained popularity in 2000 at the launch of its own "Y3K" series. "Mindcircus" is a song by English electronic music duo Way Out West (duo), Way Out West featuring singer Tricia Lee Kelshall. It was released on 17 April 2002 through Distinct'ive Records, as the third single from Way Out West's second studio album ''Intensify''. The song peaked at #39 in the UK Singles Chart in 2002, and reached number 1 in the UK Dance Chart. The popularity of the song was extended by a remix from Gabriel & Dresden, which featured on Tiësto's ''In Search of Sunrise 3: Panama''. Background Following "Intensify", "Mindcircus" was released as the third single from ''Intensify''. In 2002, Black Hole Recordings, Black Hole released ''Mindcircus (Remixes)'' which reached #6 on ''Billboard (magazine), Billboards US Dance Club Songs chart. "The Gift" is a song by English electronic music duo Way Out West featuring English singer Joanna Law, credited as Miss Joanna Law. It was released on the since defunct record label Deconstruction Records on 2 September 1996. The song reached #15 on the UK Singles Chart that year, and also peaked at #2 on the UK Dance Chart. It is the third single from their eponymous debut studio album '' Way Out West''. Background The song uses a sample from Joanna Law's cover of " The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", titled "First Time Ever". After its release, a music video for the song was also filmed. The song has been featured on many compilation albums, including Judge Jules' ''Trance Nation Anthems'' on Ministry of Sound. Anjunabeats
Anjunabeats is a British record label started by producers Jonathan "Jono" Grant and Paavo Siljamäki of Above & Beyond in 2000. Initially exclusively a trance music label, around 2011 Anjunabeats started releasing primarily trance-edged house. The name Anjuna comes from the name of a beach in Goa, India. History In 2000, Anjunabeats released its first 12" record, titled Volume One, which was released under Grant and Siljamäki's alias ''Anjunabeats''. As the label got the name Anjunabeats, they decided to produce under different aliases, such as Free State and Dirt Devils.
