Wavinya Ndeti
Wavinya Ndeti (born 8 November 1967) is a Kenyan politician and a business woman who is serving as the 2nd Governor of Machakos County. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Kathiani Constituency in the 10th Kenyan parliament and an assistant minister in the ministry of youth affairs and sport from 2008 to 2013. She was the first woman to be elected as a member of parliament in Machakos county since independence. She was a CCU candidate in 2013 and WDM-K candidate in 2017 for Machakos Governor. Emali Declaration
Emali is a fast-growing town located along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway in Kenya's Makueni County. It is a popular resting place for truck drivers ferrying goods from the Mombasa port to inland destinations such as Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali and even the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is known as "the town that never sleeps" due to its vibrant night life. The town is inhabited by the Kamba and Maasai tribes. Geography Emali is on flat land and has red volcanic soil. Machakos County Governor Election
The 2017 Machakos gubernatorial election took place on 8 August 2017 to elect the governor and deputy governor of Machakos, concurrently with Machakos Senator to the Senate as other Counties and Machakos MPs to the Kenya National Assembly and Elections of County Assembly MCAs. Nomination of Candidates Incumbent governor Alfred Mutua had won the 2013 elections having run on a Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya ticket. The Governor however decamped to his own new Maendeleo Chap Chap Party in 2015. Machakos, like most counties, holds primary elections for Governor then the winners pick their own running mates.
