Wavertree (Maryland)
Wavertree or Howards Resolution is a historic home located in Glenelg, Maryland in Howard County. The estate was first surveyed as "Howard's Second Discovery" by Henry Howard in 1712. It is notable as the family seat of the prominent Iglehart family. Tilgman Iglehart built the federal style stone house in the federal style. Tilgman along with other family members are buried onsite in a family grave. The name Wavertree comes from a later owner, Colonel Leven Gale, who had ancestors in Wavertree, England. As with many pre-colonial buildings of the region, the fieldstone structure was a later addition attached to an older log structure. in 1938, the log structure section was removed from deterioration. The building was acquired in 1973 by Howard County for a park, but was returned to private ownership to Robert Watson by 1974 and Charles R. Miller Jr by 1978. Glenelg, Maryland
Glenelg is an unincorporated community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is located in the 21737 ZIP Code, and is part of the 410 area code. It is the home town of Glenelg High School. History John Dorsey, who was one of the first settlers in what is now Howard County and a prominent man, gave land to his daughter Sarah Dorsey Howard and her husband Henry Howard out in the western part of the county (which is now Glenelg) in 1735. The property was called Howard's Resolution. Ephraim Howard, son of Sara and Henry, built a house on the property in the middle or late 18th century. Dr. Ephraim Howard (3.XII.1745-6.XII.1788) matriculated at the University of Edinburgh in 1766 and at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands 7 May 1767. Iglehart House (Columbia, Maryland)
The Iglehart House () was a historic home located in Columbia, Maryland, Howard County, Maryland, now part of the Rouse Company land development. The Iglehart house was a two bay wide, two and a half bay stucco covered stone house. The stone structure matched construction style of the nearby Hickory Ridge. The house stood on a 113-acre property which was part of an original land grand named "Joseph's gift". The Iglehart family was prominent in Howard county leadership in the early 1800s in the antebellum era of tobacco slave plantations. Iglehart
Iglehart is a historic home at Iglehart, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It is a -story Greek Revival-style frame house with a gable roof, built about 1830. Its owner, Leonard Iglehart, served as a commissioner for the primary schools in Anne Arundel County from 1834 until 1838. He was also one of the six original commissioners of the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad, which was incorporated by an act of the Maryland General Assembly in December 1836.
