Waveform Transmission Vol. 2
''Waveform Transmission Vol. 2'' is an album by American electronic musician and record producer Robert Hood, released under the alias The Vision. Issued in 1993 via Tresor record label, it is the second instalment of the ''Waveform Transmission'' series. Featuring a different style from Hood's future releases, the record attributes influences to his collective Underground Resistance and Jeff Mills. Critical reception AllMusic critic Jason Birchmeier found the record to be "nowhere near as realized as his ood'slater Tresor recordings such as '' Internal Empire'' and ''Minimal Nation''." Birchmeier further stated: "With the syncopated pounding and the maelstrom of looped laser sounds, a stark, austere motif pervades throughout these eight songs; unfortunately, the variety of experimental song ideas so common to his later work is notably absent." Robert Hood
Robert Hood (born 1965 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American electronic music producer and DJ. He is a founding member of the group Underground Resistance as a 'Minister of Information' with Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills. He is often considered to be one of the founders of minimal techno. In 1994, Hood founded the minimal techno label M-Plant in Detroit. Biography Underground Resistance Hood was a member of Underground Resistance, a techno collective started by Jeff Mills and former Parliament bass player 'Mad' Mike Banks. The group embraced militant, revolutionary rhetoric, and only appeared in public dressed in ski masks and black combat suits. It was founded in December 1989 by Mark Ernestus at the ground floor of a Reichenberger Straße’s building. It is specialized in techno music, reggae, dub and dubstep. Techno
Techno is a genre of electronic dance music (EDM) which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set, with tempo often varying between 120 and 150 beats per minute (bpm). The central rhythm is typically in common time (4/4) and often characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat. The album showcases a further development on Hood's minimal sound, as well as departure from his collaborations with Underground Resistance.
