Wavala Kali
Wavala Kali (born 26 June 1954) is a Papua New Guinean sprint (running), sprinter. He competed in the Athletics at the 1976 Summer Olympics – Men's 200 metres, men's 200 metres and the Athletics at the 1976 Summer Olympics - Men's 400 metres, men's 400 m at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. Kali started running in 1971 at Iarowari High School. He is from Kelekapana, Abau District and Alukuni, Rigo District. He won a gold medal at the 1975 South Pacific Games. Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent. The ''Papua New Guinea Post-Courier'' is a newspaper based in Konedobu, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. It was established on 30 June 1969. Its parent company, The Herald and Weekly Times (later purchased by News Corp Australia), had acquired what had then been the two main newspapers in Papua New Guinea, the three-days-a-week ''South Pacific Post'' and the twice-weekly '' New Guinea Times Courier'', and decided to amalgamate them into one publication. It was the first national daily newspaper in Papua New Guinea. Luke Sela was editor from 1978 to 2000. With a circulation of 41,000, the ''Post-Courier'' is the largest selling Pacific Island newspaper. The paper is majority owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. The men's 200 metres was an event at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. The competition was held on 25 July 1976 and 26 July 1976. There were 45 competitors from 33 nations. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress.
