Watskeburt?! is a song by the Dutch hip hop group De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig. "Watskeburt" is a contraction of the Dutch sentence "Wat is er gebeurd?" ("What happened?", in the sense of "What's happening?"/"What's up?"). The song was released as a single on 16 May 2005. At first, the song was not very successful, until several radio stations picked it up. The song entered the Dutch Top 40 on 4 June at #8, and the next week rose to #1, where it remained for three weeks. De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig (The Youth of Today) is a Dutch hip hop and R&B group based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, renowned for their musical approach of irreverent, humorous lyrics and electronic beats. Their humorous style is characterised by their frequent use of word play, lyrical flirting with languages other than Dutch and the propagating of neologisms, such as " Watskeburt?!" (cf. the English ''wassup''). Members The group consists of Vieze Fur (real name Freddie Tratlehner), also known as Vieze Freddie, P. Fabergé (real name Pepijn Lanen), also known as P. Bas Bron (born 17 July 1974) is a musical artist and a producer of mostly electronic music from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Bastian As Bastian, Bas Bron scored a modest national hit in 2001 with the song "You've Got My Love", which was accompanied by a music video showing the song's lyrics on shirts worn by dancing women, showing only their upper chest. It started as a radio program titled "Veronica Top 40", on the offshore station Radio Veronica in 1965. It remained "The Veronica Top 40" until 1974, when the station was forced to stop broadcasting.
