The ''Watertown Daily Times'' is a newspaper published six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, in Watertown, New York. It provides coverage of Jefferson County, Lewis County, St. Lawrence County and Oswego County. It was founded in 1861 and is owned by the Johnson family of Watertown. For years, the Times was the smallest newspaper in the country to have its own Washington, D.C., bureau. The Times covers its geographically expansive coverage area through a network of bureaus and shared resources with its sister newspapers. Canton is a village and county seat of St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The village is centrally located in both the town of Canton and the county of St. Lawrence. The population was 7,155 at the 2020 census. The name comes from the Chinese city of Canton (now Guangzhou). WTNY (790 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Watertown, New York. The station airs a talk radio format and is owned by the Stephens Media Group. The studios and offices are on Mullin Street. WTNY broadcasts at 1,000 watts. By day it uses a non-directional antenna. But at night, to protect other stations on AM 790 it uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array. The transmitter is on Ives Street Road. WTNY is heard on FM translator W240EA at 95.9 MHz. Programming The station features a local weekday morning news and information show hosted by Bill Tinsley. Malone is a village in, and the county seat of, Franklin County, New York, United States. Its population was 5,911 at the 2010 census. The village is in the town of Malone. It is home to a campus of North Country Community College. History The community was first settled around 1802. During the War of 1812, the village was sacked by British troops making incursions from what would become Canada. Malone was incorporated as a village in 1853. Oswego County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 117,525. The county seat is Oswego. The county name is from a Mohawk-language word meaning "the pouring out place", referring to the point at which the Oswego River feeds into Lake Ontario at the northern edge of the county in the city of Oswego.
