Waterside, Derry
The Waterside (Ulster-Scots: ''Wattèrbroo'', ) generally refers to the part of Derry on the east bank of the River Foyle. Traditionally, the Waterside ends at the Caw roundabout near the Foyle Bridge. Areas such as Eglinton and Limavady are not part of the Waterside. The Waterside is a mainly Protestant and unionist area, while the rest of Derry City is mainly Irish Catholic and nationalist. During the Troubles, the Waterside's Protestant population grew, probably as a result of Protestants moving there from the west side of the river. The Waterside contains the city's main hospital, Altnagelvin, as well as St. Columb's Park and the former Ebrington Parade Ground. It is linked to the west side of the city via the Foyle Bridge, Craigavon Bridge, and the Peace Bridge. Waterside, East Dunbartonshire
Waterside is a small village next to Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, on the eastern outskirts. It is roughly 10 miles north-east of Glasgow. History In former times, Waterside was characterised by its neat and tidy weavers' cottages on the north bank of the Luggie river, and its picturesque mills on the south bank. In between lay a well-built mill dam. Many of the former weavers' cottages survive but the mills have long since been demolished. The mill dam has collapsed into a scattering of stones on the river bed. The upper of the two mills, built in 1779 as a lint mill for the processing of flax for the local linen industry, was situated beside the dam, and was a popular subject for picture postcards. Further downstream was the Earl of Wigton's ancient corn mill of Duntiblae, where local people took their grain for grinding. A lade, or water course, led from the mill dam first to the lint mill, then several hundred yards downstream to the corn mill, to supply both with wa ...

Waterside (Norfolk, Virginia)
The Waterside, is a festival marketplace on the Elizabeth River in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, opened June 1, 1983. While the Waterside Annex was demolished May 16, 2016, the main portion was renovated and reopened as Waterside District in May 2017. A critical component of Norfolk's ongoing post-World War II revitalization, the complex connects via a cross-street pedestrian bridge to a parking garage, sits at the foot of the Portsmouth Ferry terminal, and connects via a waterfront promenade to the downtown, the nearby baseball stadium (Harbor Park), naval museum (Nauticus) and waterfront neighborhood of Freemason Harbor. Beginning in the late 1970s, mall-developer James W. Rouse and the Rouse Company had conceived the festival marketplace (e.g., Norfolk's Waterside) as an important component to redeveloping a declining downtown, a seminal catalyst to further development. The concept combined to varying degrees major restaurants, specialty retail shops, food courts and nightlif ...
