Waterfall Way
Waterfall Way is a country road in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia, linking Raleigh on the state's North Coast to Armidale. The route passes through some of New South Wales' most scenic countryside and has become well known as its best and Australia's third most beautiful tourist drive. Seven national parks, of which three are listed as World Heritage Areas by UNESCO and form part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia (formerly the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves), are located on or close to the route. Dorrigo National Park encompasses the waterfalls that give the route its name. In addition to being a tourist route, the Waterfall Way is also an important link between coastal and inland New South Wales (specifically the population centres of Armidale and Coffs Harbour), and is therefore heavily trafficked. Giinagay Way
Giinagay Way is a road in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales linking the towns of Warrell Creek, Macksville, Nambucca Heads and Urunga to Pacific Highway. It runs along a former section of the highway between Eungai Creek and Raleigh that was bypassed by a new parallel alignment between 2016 and 2018. ''Giinagay'' means "Hello" or "Welcome" in the local Gumbaynggirr language. Route description Giinagay Way is a road stretching from Eungai Creek to Raleigh and passes through the towns of Warrell Creek, Macksville, Nambucca Heads and Urunga. Bellingen, New South Wales
Bellingen ( ) is a small town in the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is located on Waterfall Way on the Bellinger River, approximately halfway between the major Australian cities of Sydney and Brisbane. In 2021, the population of Bellingen was 13,253, and it is the council seat of Bellingen Shire. History The Bellinger Valley was first settled by Kooris – the Gumbaynggir people. The first European to come across the Bellinger Valley was the stockman William Myles who arrived in 1840 looking for new valleys north of Kempsey and the Macleay River. The following year, Myles returned accompanied by government surveyor Clement Hodgkinson. Hodgkinson decided to name the area after the word that the Gumbaynggir people in the area used for the river, "Billingen", pronounced like "Billing-en". Cathedral Rock National Park
Cathedral Rock is a national park west of Waterfall Way in New South Wales, Australia, east of Armidale and about north of Sydney. This park is lying between the Guy Fawkes River and Macleay Range, and is about six kilometres west of Ebor, New South Wales. The highest peak of the New England Tableland, Round Mountain, is located in the park. This is a great place for hiking, camping, picnicking and bird watching. Wollomombi, New South Wales
Wollomombi is a small village situated 1 km north of Waterfall Way and approximately 38 kilometres east of Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. The settlement is at an altitude of about 964 metres on the Northern Tablelands in the New England region. The village is centered between the Wollomombi River and Chandler River. These rivers fall into the Wollomombi Gorge about 4 km away at a site known as the Wollomombi Falls, which is in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. Wollomombi's population was 299 in the 1961 Census, fell to 148 in the 2006 Census and to 112 in the 2016 Census. Ebor Falls
Ebor Falls is a tiered waterfall on the Guy Fawkes River, located near Ebor and about north-east of Wollomombi on Waterfall Way in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. Guy Fawkes River National Park, a national park comprising , is located on the eastern edge of the New England Tablelands and the western edge of the Dorrigo Plateau, in north eastern New South Wales, Australia. The Bicentennial National Trail (BNT), originally known as the National Horse Trail, is one of the longest multi-use, non-motorised, self-reliant trails in the world, stretching 5,330 kilometres from Cooktown, Queensland, through New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory to Healesville, 60 km north-east of Melbourne. The Nymboida River, a perennial stream of the Clarence River catchment, is located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia.
