Wasserball-Liga
The Deutsche Wasserball-Liga (DWL) is the premier category in the league system for water polo clubs in Germany. The men's championship was founded in 1912, but only two editions took place. It was resumed in 1919 and has taken place regularly since except for 1935, 1944 and 1945. Four-times LEN Euroleague, European champions WF Spandau 04 has dominated the championship for the past three decades, with a record 37 titles since 1979. The women's championship was founded in 1982. SV Blau-Weiss Bochum, Blau-Weiss Bochum is its leading team, having won all editions from 2000 to 2011. SV Bayer Uerdingen 08
Schwimmverein Bayer Uerdingen 08 e.V. is a German water polo and swimming (sport), swimming club from the Uerdingen district of Krefeld. Bayer Uerdingen men's team won the Wasserball-Liga in 1926, while its women's team won its first championship in 1994. WF Spandau 04
The Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 is a swimming club in Spandau, Berlin, Germany. The club is known for the water polo team, which has won a record number of German championships with 37, as well as German Cups (31) and Super Cups (17). In European tournaments the team has won 4 LEN Champions Leagues and 2 LEN Super Cup titles. The club has over 3,500 members. The word ''Wasserfreunde'' is German for "Water Friends". Schwimmverein Würzburg 05 (swimming club Würzburg 05), shortly Würzburg 05, is a German water sports club. History The club founded in 1905, is one of the largest swimming clubs in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. The SVW 05 built in 1968, the first club's indoor swimming pool (25m pool) in Germany. ASC Duisburg (Amateur-Schwimm-Club Duisburg), or simply Duisburg is a sports club based in the city of Duisburg, in Germany. The water polo team is among the strongest in Germany and also, ASC has a large swimming department. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal.
