Wassail (EP)
''Wassail'' is the third official studio EP by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train. It was released on 1 June 2015 by English Electric Recordings and Burning Shed. It contains three new songs and a live bonus track that originally appeared on ''The Underfall Yard''. The title track also appears on the band's next full-length studio album, ''Folklore'', released the following year, while the other two new songs are included only on the double-LP vinyl release of that album. Big Big Train
Big Big Train are an English progressive rock band formed in Bournemouth in 1990. The current line-up includes band founder Gregory Spawton (bass, guitars and keyboards), along with Nick D'Virgilio (drums, guitars and keyboards) and Rikard Sjöblom (guitars and keyboards). Until 2009, the band were active as a predominantly studio project led by Spawton and co-founder Andy Poole (guitars, bass and keyboards), who departed the band in 2018, with changing line-ups and guest musicians. They have released fourteen studio albums and six EPs. After starting out as an independent band, Big Big Train were signed to Giant Electric Pea from 1993 to 1998 and distributed their releases through their own website. ''Full Throttle: All-American Racing'', known in Japan as , is a racing video game released in 1991 by Gremlin Interactive for the SNES. In Japan, it was published by Coconuts Japan, in North America by Cybersoft, and in Europe by GameTek. In April 2021, it was released as part of ''Piko Interactive Collection 2'' for the Evercade by Blaze Entertainment. Gameplay Players can race using motorcycles or waterscooters. Six racers can be controlled by the human player. Places visited in the game include the Appalachian Mountains, San Francisco's elaborate streets, and Arizona's flat wasteland deserts. An unusual aspect of the game was that the player has the choice between playing the game with music only, or sound effects only. It is not possible to play the game with both at the same time. The Underfall Yard
''The Underfall Yard'' is the sixth studio album by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train, and their first to feature vocalist and multi-instrumentalist David Longdon. It was released on 15 December 2009, by English Electric Recordings. Background ''The Underfall Yard'' consists of an opening instrumental track and 5 songs. The album has an elegiac atmosphere, with a number of the songs exploring historical themes in an almost nostalgic manner. The opening instrumental track, "Evening Star", sets out some of the instrumental motifs which recur in the title track. Two of the songs, "Master James of St. George" and "Victorian Brickwork", are about Spawton's father, who died shortly before the album was released. "Last Train" is a song about a Mr Delia who was the last station master at Hurn station, which was an isolated station on a rural branch line on the border of Dorset and Hampshire. Nick D'Virgilio
Nicholas D'Virgilio (born November 12, 1968), often referred to as NDV, is an American drummer, singer and guitarist, best known as a member of the progressive rock band Spock's Beard. He was also one of two drummers chosen to replace Phil Collins in Genesis on the ''Calling All Stations'' album. He has also done session work with many artists including Tears for Fears and Mystery, and is an official member of Big Big Train. Career D'Virgilio was the drummer in Spock's Beard since the band began in the early 1990s. After Neal Morse left in 2002, D'Virgilio took over on lead vocals and became their frontman during live performances. In this line-up, Spock's Beard subsequently recorded four albums, ''Feel Euphoria'', ''Octane'', the self-titled ''Spock's Beard'', and '' X'', prior to D'Virgilio's departure in 2011. Dave Gregory (musician)
David Charles Gregory (born 21 September 1952) is an English guitarist from Swindon, best known for his work with the rock band XTC. He was a member of the group between the single " Life Begins at the Hop" (1979) and early sessions for the album '' Apple Venus Volume 1'' (1999), contributing guitar, keyboards, and occasional string arrangements. Career In '76/'77, before XTC Gregory was lead guitarist for Dave Heap's Forest of Dean based band, Gogmagog along with Jim Leach on keyboard. He joined XTC as guitarist immediately prior to the recording of the ''Drums and Wires'' LP in 1979, when he replaced Barry Andrews, eventually leaving the band in 1999. He also contributed keyboards and backing vocals to their work. David Longdon (17 June 1965 – 20 November 2021) was a British multi-instrumentalist and singer, who was best known as the lead vocalist and co-songwriter of the progressive rock band Big Big Train. Besides singing, Longdon played flute, keyboards, acoustic and electric 6 & 12 string guitars, bass, mandolin, lute, banjo, accordion, percussion, dulcimer, psaltry, vibraphone, theremin and glockenspiel. Early life and career Longdon was born in Nottingham, England, on 17 June 1965. He began writing music at age nine after discovering The Who. He began his career as the lead singer of the band The Gift Horse. Longdon was one of those who auditioned as lead singer of rock band Genesis in 1996, following the departure of Phil Collins. Gregory Spawton
Gregory Spawton (born May 17, 1965) is an English musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter and founder of English progressive rock band Big Big Train. Early life Spawton was brought up in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands. The first Progressive rock, prog album he heard was ''Selling England by the Pound'' by Genesis (band), Genesis, which belonged to his brother Nigel, when he was 12. The first album he bought was ''Pawn Hearts'' by Van der Graaf Generator. He also saw Steve Hackett on his ''Defector (Steve Hackett album), Defector'' tour in 1980. A heavy influence of his is Peter Hammill. Before Big Big Train, Spawton was in a band called Equus, which played some shows around Sutton Coldfield in the early 80s.
