Wasim Akhtar
Wasim Akhtar (Urdu: ; born 25 November 1955) is a Pakistani politician of the Muttahida Quami Movement (P). He served as the Mayor of Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, from 2016 to 2020. Shortly after his nomination as Mayor, he was controversially arrested for what his supporters saw as political reasons. Akhtar worked as a telecommunication engineer for AT&T in Saudi Arabia for ten years. After returning to Pakistan, he started radio sets and telephone sets assembly business which later expanded to pharmaceutical distribution. Early life and career After his early academic education, he finished his degree program in telecommunication engineering. He is also facing charges as the main culprit on the 12 May 2007 riots in which more than 50 citizens were killed. Personal life Akhtar belongs to an Urdu-speaking Muslim Rajput family. 2015 Karachi Local Government Elections
2015 Karachi local government elections were the second Karachi local government elections to elect a mayor and a local council. Voting There were 209 union committees and 38 union councils in Karachi. Both union councils and union committees are similar in that they are territorial units and composition; the main difference between them is that the union committee represents an urban area whereas the union council represents the rural or suburban areas. Each union council has a union council chairman and one member of the district council. The chairman of each district is selected by the chairmen of union councils and union committees. Altaf Hussain (Pakistani Politician)
Altaf Hussain ( ur, ; ; born 17 September 1953 in Karachi) is a British Pakistani politician who is known as the founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He holds United Kingdom citizenship and has been living in exile in the United Kingdom since the start of Operation Clean-up. Since 2015, he has been a fugitive from the Anti Terrorism Court of Pakistan on the charges of murder, targeted killings, treason, inciting violence and hate speeches. He is due to go on trial in the United Kingdom in January 2022 for promoting terrorism and unrest through hate speech in Pakistan.
