Washington Huskies Women's Volleyball
The Washington Huskies volleyball team is the intercollegiate women's volleyball team of the University of Washington in Seattle. They compete in the Pac-12 Conference and play their home games at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, which was built in 1927 and renovated in 2000. Prior to 1988, the Washington volleyball program had seen Huskies' victories, but it has now emerged as a perennial power. The Huskies have reached the NCAA Final Four on five occasions with one national title (2005), and won multiple Pac-10/12 championships. Jennifer Cohen (athletic Director)
Jennifer Cohen (born 1969) is the athletic director at the University of Washington. College A native of Tacoma, Washington, Cohen graduated from San Diego State University in 1991, then earned a master's degree in physical education with an emphasis in sports administration, from Pacific Lutheran University in 1994. Career Cohen became interim athletic director at the University of Washington on February 1, 2016. On May 25, 2016, Cohen became the seventeenth athletic director of the University of Washington. At the time of her appointment, Cohen was one of just three female athletic directors in the Power Five conferences and the only female AD in the Pac-12. Cohen worked as an athletics administrator at Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Puget Sound, and Texas Tech University, as well as the University of Washington beginning in 1998. Kara Jane Bajema (born March 24, 1998) is an American professional volleyball player who plays as an outside hitter for the United States women's national volleyball team and Turkish professional club VakıfBank S.K. Personal life Bajema was born in Bellingham, Washington to parents Beth and Shane. She spent a few of her early years in Michigan before her family relocated back to Washington. She played soccer until seventh grade before moving on to basketball and volleyball. She has two siblings who are also athletes: an older sister who played soccer at the University of South Carolina, and a brother who plays basketball. She attended Lynden Christian high school. She was a top 100 national volleyball recruit in her high school class and was a MaxPreps First Team All-American in 2015. Penn State Nittany Lions Women's Volleyball
The Penn State Nittany Lions women's volleyball program has had a long tradition, founded in 1976 by Tom Tait, long-time coach of the Penn State men's team, who coached the women's team from 1976 to 1979 and was named a USA Volleyball All-Time great coach in 2007. Russ Rose was the head coach from 1979 to 2021. He led the program to seven NCAA national championships, first in 1999, then in each year from 2007 through 2010, and in both 2013 and 2014. Rose has led the Nittany Lions to appearances in every NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament, making Penn State the only program in the nation to appear in every NCAA volleyball tournament since its inception in 1981. 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 2013 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on December 5, 2013 and ended on December 21, 2013 at KeyArena in Seattle, Washington. The NCAA selection show was televised on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Qualifying teams The champions of the NCAA's 32 conferences qualify automatically. Twenty-two conferences hold tournaments, while the other ten award their automatic bid on the basis of being the league's regular-season champion. Those that do not hold tournaments are the Atlantic Coast, American Athletic, Big 12, Big West, Big Ten, Ivy League, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern and West Coast Conferences. Climate Pledge Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Seattle, Washington, United States. It is located north of Downtown Seattle in the entertainment complex known as Seattle Center, the site of the 1962 World's Fair, for which it was originally developed. The 2006 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on November 30, 2006 with 64 teams and concluded on December 16, 2006, when top ranked Nebraska defeated second ranked Stanford 3 sets to 1 in Omaha, Nebraska for the program's third NCAA title. At the time, the 17,209 national championship match attendance was the highest attended volleyball match ever in the United States. 1990 NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA men's volleyball tournament was the 21st annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA men's collegiate volleyball. The tournament was played at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia during May 1990. USC defeated Long Beach State in the final match, 3–1 (15–10, 12–15, 15–4, 15–6), to win their fourth national title. The Trojans (26–7) were coached by Jim McLaughlin. USC Trojans men's volleyball is a collegiate volleyball team that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team participates as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1970 and first awarded schlorships during the 1976–77 season. The program has won the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship four times, and placed second seven times.
