Washington's 46th Legislative District
Washington's 46th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It includes the North Seattle neighborhoods east of Aurora Avenue except for the University District, as well as the cities of Lake Forest Park and Kenmore. The district's legislators are state senator David Frockt and state representatives Gerry Pollet (position 1) and Javier Valdez (position 2), all Democrats. Washington State Legislature
The Washington State Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. It is a bicameral body, composed of the lower Washington House of Representatives, composed of 98 Representatives, and the upper Washington State Senate, with 49 Senators plus the Lieutenant Governor acting as president. The state is divided into 49 legislative districts, each of which elect one senator and two representatives. Washington State Route 99
State Route 99 (SR 99), also known as the Pacific Highway, is a state highway in the Seattle metropolitan area, part of the U.S. state of Washington. It runs from Fife in the south to Everett in the north, passing through the cities of Federal Way, SeaTac, Seattle, Shoreline, and Lynnwood. The University District (commonly, the U District) refers to a collective of neighborhoods in Seattle, Washington, so named because the main campus of the University of Washington (UW) is located there. Lake Forest Park, Washington
Lake Forest Park is a suburban city in King County, Washington, United States, located northeast of Seattle. It was developed in the 20th century as a bedroom community with single-family housing on medium to large-sized lots. Less than 4% of the city's land is zoned commercial, largely concentrated in one location, and there are no industrial areas. The city is situated at the northwest end of Lake Washington along State Route 522, which provides connections to Seattle and Bothell. Kenmore, Washington
Kenmore is a city in King County, Washington, United States, along the northernmost shore of Lake Washington. It is a suburban commuter town at the mouth of the Sammamish River, northeast of downtown Seattle and west of Bothell. The population was 20,460 at the 2010 census. Kenmore Air Harbor is the largest seaplane-only passenger facility of its kind in the United States. David Frockt
David S. Frockt (born July 14, 1969) is an American politician and attorney who served as a member of the Washington State Senate for the 46th legislative district, which includes North Seattle, Lake Forest Park, and Kenmore. Early life and education Frockt was born in Cincinnati to Jewish parents, Stephen and Madolyn Frockt. He grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Ballard High School. He graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Political Science in 1991 and later from the UCLA School of Law in 1998. Gerald Martin Pollet (born 1958) is a lawyer and a Democratic member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 46th District. He lost the race for that seat in 2008 to Scott White, but was appointed to fill the seat December 5, 2011 after Rep. Javier A. Valdez (born July 3, 1970) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He is a member of the Washington State Senate, representing the 46th Legislative District. Valdez was the first choice of the Precinct Committee Officers to fill the vacancy after Jessyn Farrell resigned to focus on her run for Mayor of Seattle. Valdez served on the Executive Board for the Washington State Democrats from 2003 until 2017. Washington Redistricting Commission
The Washington Redistricting Commission is a decennial body charged with redrawing congressional and legislative districts in the state of Washington after each census. On November 8, 1983, Washington state passed the 74th amendment to its constitution via Senate Joint Resolution 103 to permanently establish the Redistricting Commission. Earlier that year the first commission redrew the state's congressional map after the previous one drawn by the legislature was ruled unconstitutional. Since after the 1990 census, a committee of four appointees of the majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate appoint a fifth member as non-voting chair, and meet to redistributes representative seats according to census results.
