It was released from their fifth studio album ''LM5 (album), LM5'' (2018), on 16 November 2018 by Syco Music, Syco, and appears as the tenth album track. It was co written by group member Jade Thirlwall, with MNEK, Mike Sabath, and Shungudzo, with production handled by Sabath, John Hill (record producer), John Hill, and Joe Kearns. "Wasabi" is a dance-pop song influenced with Rock music, rock and Punk rock, punk elements. Lyrically, the song addresses the group's relationship with the media and the public in regards to the criticism they have faced during their careers. A music video for the song was released on 12 March 2020. In 2021, the song was Music recording certification, certified silver in the United Kingdom by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and certified gold in Brazil. Little Mix are a British girl group, composed of group members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards. Jesy Nelson was originally part of the group before she left in 2020. After becoming the first group to win the British version of ''The X Factor'' in its eighth series, the group signed with Syco Music in 2011. The group released their debut album '' DNA'' (2012), which was the highest chart entry for a debut album by British girl group in the United States.
