Warwickshire Rugby Football Union
The Warwickshire Rugby Football Union is a governing body for rugby union in part of The Midlands, England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union for the city of Coventry and the county of Warwickshire. The current president is Steve Wilkes of the ''Old Coventrians'' club. History The Warwickshire RFU was created in 1914, after ceding from the now defunct Midland Counties Rugby Union. County team ''Warwickshire'' play in the County Championship. As of 2017, the representative side competes in Division 2. However, in the past, the county competed at a much higher level, winning the Bill Beaumont Cup (as it is now known) 10 times, the fourth best record in the competition. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the Sports governing body, national governing body for rugby union in England. It was founded in 1871, and was the sport's international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organises international matches for the England national rugby union team, England national team, and educates and trains players and officials. The RFU is an industrial and provident society owned by over 2,000 member clubs, representing over 2.5 million registered players, and forms the largest rugby union society in the world, and one of the largest sports organisations in England. Keresley is a suburban village and civil parish in the City of Coventry, West Midlands, England, about north of Coventry city centre and southwest of Bedworth. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 791 falling to 713 at the 2011 Census, although the 2018 population was estimated at 783. Kenilworth RFC
Kenilworth Rugby Club is an English rugby union team based in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. The club runs three senior sides, a veterans team and a full set of mini and junior teams. The first XV currently plays in Regional 1 Midlands − a league at level 5 of the English rugby union system The second XV currently plays in Counties 2 Midlands West South at level 8 of the RFU system. The Women's team is coached by Rich Bennett and play in the Championship North 1 at level 2 of the Women's league structure. History Kenilworth Rugby Club was formed in 1924. The 2000s saw the club progress up the league pyramid in recent years and reached level 5 and played in National League 3 Midlands until two consecutive relegations saw the club drop back to the seventh level, before promotion in 2012–13 back to level 6. Earlsdon is a residential suburb and Ward (politics), electoral ward of Coventry, England. It lies approximately one mile to the southwest of Coventry, Coventry City Centre.
