Warrior (band)
Warrior is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 1982. Best known for their 1985 debut album, '' Fighting for the Earth'', the band has released a total of four studio albums. Guitarist and co-founder Joe Floyd is the only Warrior member to appear on every album. Floyd is also a notable engineer and producer and has worked with Bruce Dickinson, Halford, Earl Slick, Tribe of Gypsies, Rob Rock, downset, Godhead, Jake E. Lee, Ratt, Riot, Malice, Odin, World War III, Helstar, and Steel Prophet, among others. In addition, Floyd is the CEO of ElectroPhonic Innovations, a guitar company. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Ratt (band)
Ratt is an American glam metal band formed in San Diego, California, in the 1970s, that had significant commercial success in the 1980s, with their albums having been certified as gold, platinum, and multi-platinum by the RIAA. The group is best known for their hit singles " Round and Round" and " Lay It Down", both of which charted in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Other songs such as " Wanted Man", " You're in Love", "Dance", and " Way Cool Jr." also charted on the Hot 100. The band's classic lineup consisted of Stephen Pearcy on lead vocals, Robbin Crosby on lead and rhythm guitar, Warren DeMartini on lead and rhythm guitar, Juan Croucier on bass guitar, and Bobby Blotzer on drums. Virgin Records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group. It originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman. KMET (defunct)
KMET was a Los Angeles FM radio station owned by Metromedia (hence the "MET" in its call sign) that broadcast at 94.7 MHz, beginning on May 2, 1966. It signed off on February 14, 1987. The station, nicknamed "The Mighty Met" (among other nicknames), was a pioneering station of the "underground" progressive rock format. Steel Prophet is an American power metal band led by the founder and main writer Steve Kachinsky. History The band started in 1984 in Middletown, Connecticut. The group's initial lineup consisted of Kachinsky on guitar, Gary Stocking on vocals, Wayne Faircloth on bass, and Harry Blackwell on drums; Blackwell's father was jazz drummer Ed Blackwell. Helstar is an American heavy metal band formed in Houston, Texas, in 1982 by guitarist Larry Barragan. They were an influential force in the American power metal genre emerging in the mid-1980s. Mandy Lion
Mandy Lion is a heavy metal/hard rock singer. He is the lead singer of the heavy metal band World War III. Biography He moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1986 and formed World War III. He caught the attention of manager Don Arden, who signed a contract with him. Soon after, Lion was signed to Hollywood Records. With the help of Arden he began auditioning celebrity players to create the line-up of the new World War III. The chosen line-up was Jimmy Bain, Vinny Appice, and Joe Floyd, who had played with Warrior; at the time, Floyd had other obligations and Tracy G was chosen to fill Floyd's spot. In 1990, World War III released their debut self-titled album on the Hollywood Records label, and soon thereafter began extensive touring.
