Warrick Giddey
Warrick Giddey (born 16 December 1967) is an Australian basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach for the Melbourne Tigers women's team of NBL1 South. Playing career Giddey played 449 games in the National Basketball League (NBL) for the Illawarra Hawks and Melbourne Tigers. Giddey won two NBL championships as a member of the Tigers in 1993 and 1997. Giddey's number 6 was retired by the Tigers and his jersey hangs in the rafters of John Cain Arena. Post-playing career Giddey remained associated with the Tigers after his playing retirement. He ran the Community and School programs for the team under its new name Melbourne United. He previously worked as an assistant coach and in club administration. On 4 February 2022, Giddey was named as head coach of the Melbourne Tigers women's team for the 2022 NBL1 South season. NBL1 South
NBL1 South is a NBL1 conference based in South East Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2019, Basketball Victoria partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to create NBL1 to replace the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Australia's pre-eminent semi-professional basketball league between 1981 and 2018. NBL1 South was the lone conference in 2019, with Queensland and South Australia joining in 2020. Josh Giddey
Joshua Giddey (born 10 October, 2002) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Thunder with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. Giddey is the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, having done so at 19 years, 84 days old. He also became the first player since Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson in 1961 to record three consecutive triple-doubles as a rookie.
