Warrenton is an unincorporated community in Johnson Township, Gibson County, Indiana. Warrenton is home to The Log Inn, the oldest restaurant in Indiana. The community is located immediately northeast of the US 41-I-64 interchange. History Warrenton was platted in 1840. Joseph Warren
Joseph Warren (June 11, 1741 – June 17, 1775), a Founding Father of the United States, was an American physician who was one of the most important figures in the Patriot movement in Boston during the early days of the American Revolution, eventually serving as President of the revolutionary Massachusetts Provincial Congress. Warren enlisted Paul Revere and William Dawes on April 18, 1775, to leave Boston and spread the alarm that the British garrison in Boston was setting out to raid the town of Concord and arrest rebel leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams. Interstate 64 (I-64) in the US state of Indiana is a major east–west highway providing access between Illinois and Kentucky. U.S. Route 41 (US 41) in the state of Indiana is a north–south US Highway that is parallel to the Illinois state line. The Log Inn
The Log Inn is a family-style restaurant located in Southeastern Johnson Township in Gibson County, Indiana. It was founded around 1825 by Mr. Henry Haub, the namesake of nearby Haubstadt. During its lifetime it has been used as a host to Abraham Lincoln; a stop on the Underground Railroad; a stop on the Dixie Highway, the main road between Chicago and Florida, which eventually became US 41. A dance hall was later built above the tavern and store and the complex would later become known as The Log Inn. The Log Inn is officially recognized as the oldest restaurant in Indiana. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
