Warren Smith (broadcaster)
Warren Smith is a Rugby League commentator for Fox Sports Australia. Smith has been with the pay TV network since 1995 and has gained a reputation for his distinctive style and versatility. Smith has made the term "they're gonna say" his own (they're gonna say it's a knock on, they're gonna say the pass was forward). He's also known for being inexplicably incredulous for no apparent reason "and wow they're gonna say it was forward" in a stunned voice (despite the pass clearly being forward). Smith is essentially the face of Fox Sports coverage of the National Rugby League competition and calls between 2-3 matches per round. He has also called the 2010/11 KFC Twenty20 big bash league. Smith made an appearance for ESPN as an on-site analyst for the 2016 College Football Sydney Cup for a crew back in Bristol. In 2016, Smith shared how he prepares to commentate on rugby league games. Fox League
Fox League is an Australian subscription television channel dedicated to screening rugby league (both domestic and international) matches and related programming. It is owned by Fox Sports Pty Limited and is available throughout Australia on Foxtel. The channel was launched on 27 February 2017. History On 27 November 2015, the Australian Rugby League Commission announced that Fox Sports had secured the rights to air all National Rugby League games excluding the NRL Grand Final live for the 2018-22 seasons. Additionally, it was announced that the current rights agreement had been altered to allow Fox Sports to also have the live rights for all games excluding the Grand Final for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, however, a dedicated yet-to-be-named NRL channel to showcase these rights would not launch until the 2017 season. National Rugby League
The National Rugby League (NRL) is an Australasian rugby league club competition which contains clubs from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. The NRL formed in 1998 as a joint partnership between the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and media giant News Corporation-controlled Super League, in the aftermath of the 1990s Super League war, in which both ran parallel to each other in 1997. The partnership was dissolved in 2012, with control of the NRL going to the re-constituted ARL, which was re-structured with an independent board of directors and renamed the Australian Rugby League Commission. 2018 NRL Season
The 2018 NRL season was the 111th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 21st season run by the National Rugby League. The main competition, known as the 2018 Telstra Premiership due to sponsorship from Telstra, featured 16 teams playing 25 weekly rounds of matches from March until September, resulting in the top eight teams playing a series of finals matches to determine which two teams reached the 2018 NRL Grand Final. Lara Pitt (born 11 November 1981) is an Australian television presenter and sports journalist, mainly known for reporting for Fox Sports on their NRL coverage and Monday Night with Matty Johns. Early life Pitt completed a Bachelor of Commerce Marketing & Tourism Management degree at the University of New South Wales and a Business Diploma in Event Management at University of Technology Sydney. Following these undergraduate degrees Pitt also completed a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism whilst working full-time. Career Pitt began her career at Fox in 2006, and joined Fox Sports News in 2007. Pitt was a regular contributor to Fox Sports A-League coverage in 2010 as a reporter.
