Warren Farm, Southall
Warren Farm is a 61-acre plot of Metropolitan Open Land located in Norwood Green ( Southall) that was previously used as playing fields by local schools. The site is also host to out of use changing rooms and pavilions. After falling out of use, it is now a wildflower meadow. History As the name suggests, Warren Farm was initially a farm which was acquired by the London County Council in the 1960s. Control was handed over to Ealing Council in 1990. In October 2017, wheelie bins stored at Warren Farm caught fire leading to a response of 10 fire engines as well as “70 firefighters and officers.” QPR Queen’s Park Rangers announced that the site was their desired site for a new first team training facility, with QPR proposing to build a two storey training centre and three storey operations building as well as other further buildings. Southall
Southall () is a large suburban county of West London, England, part of the London Borough of Ealing and is one of its seven major towns. It is situated west of Charing Cross and had a population of 69,857 as of 2011. Metropolitan Open Land
"Metropolitan Open Land" or "MOL" is a term or designation used only within London. Land designated MOL is afforded the same level of protection as the Metropolitan Green Belt. Designation is intended to protect areas of landscape, recreation, nature conservation and scientific interest which are strategically important. Norwood Green
Norwood Green is a place in the London Borough of Ealing in London, England, that forms the southern part of Southall. It is a suburban development centred west of Charing Cross and ENE of Heathrow Airport. Its origin coincides with the 12th century arch in its chapel, the date when it is first recorded. Reflecting its mid-19th century agrarian nature it remained below church status in Hayes parish until 1859. It often lends its name to an electoral ward of around 12,500 people. It today forms the southern part of larger Southall, named after the main manor which lay in the north of its area which is south of Northolt parish. Heston
Heston is a suburban area and part of the Hounslow district in the London Borough of Hounslow. The residential settlement covers a slightly smaller area than its predecessor farming village, 10.8 miles (17.4 km) west south-west of Charing Cross and adjoins the M4 motorway but has no junction with it; Heston also adjoins the Great West Road, a dual carriageway, mostly west of the "Golden Mile" headquarters section of it.
