Warren Doyle
Warren Doyle is a hiker and supporter of the Appalachian Trail. He holds the informal record for the hiking the entire Appalachian Trail the most times (eighteen times; 9 thru-hikes and 9 section hikes). From 1974 to 2017, he organized and led 10 groups up the entire Appalachian Trail. He is the founder of two organizations dedicated to the trail: the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association, and the Appalachian Trail Institute. He remains the Director of Appalachian Trail Institute. Life Warren Doyle (born 1950) became interested in hiking while attending Southern Connecticut State College. He had spent one summer after his junior year volunteering in the mountains of Jamaica and the next year on the edge of the coalfields in southwest West Virginia; the latter enabled him to meet, and be mentored by, the noted Appalachian activist/educator/poet Don West. Appalachian Trail

Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association
The Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association or ALDHA-East is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 to support and promote the interests of Appalachian Trail long-distance hikers. It "was the first organization of long-distance hikers in the United States". Activities The ALDHA authors the annual ''Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers' Companion'', a guide to hiking the Appalachian Trail (A.T.). It also publishes a quarterly newsletter, ''The Long-Distance Hiker''. An annual event is the ALDHA Gathering with hiking- and trail-oriented workshops about trails worldwide. It is usually held over Columbus Day weekend and has hundreds of experienced hikers in attendance. Southern Connecticut State University (Southern Connecticut, Southern Connecticut State, SCSU, or simply Southern) is a public university in New Haven, Connecticut. Part of the Connecticut State University System, it was founded in 1893 and is governed by the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education. History On September 11, 1893, New Haven State Normal School, a two-year teacher training school, was established. The Skinner School, a two-story building, was used as the first campus. It was situated on State Street at the corner of what was then known as Summer Street. Arthur Boothby Morrill served as the first principal of the Normal School from 1893 to 1924. Thru-hiking
Thru-hiking, or through-hiking, is the act of hiking an established end-to-end trail or long-distance trail with continuous footsteps. In the United States, the term is most commonly associated with the Appalachian Trail (AT), the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and the Continental Divide Trail (CDT), but may also refer to other end-to-end hikes. Other examples of thru-hikes include Te Araroa in New Zealand, the Camino de Santiago in Spain and France, the HexaTrek in France, the Via Francigena in France and Italy, the Va Sentiero in Italy, the Lycian Way in Turkey, the Israel National Trail, and the Great Divide Trail (GDT) in Canada. Jennifer Pharr Davis is a long distance hiker from the United States of America who serves on the President's Council for Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. She has been called "the Serena Williams of long distance hiking" by Baratunde Thurston (PBS America Outdoors) and is also an author, speaker, National Geographic (magazine), National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, and Ambassador for the American Hiking Society.
