Michael Wardell
Brigadier Michael Wardell (19 June 1895 – 29 April 1978) was a British-born army officer and publisher. In the 1950s and 1960s he owned and operated a publishing company, a daily newspaper and a monthly magazine in New Brunswick. He became a Canadian citizen in 1962. He was a close associate of Lord Beaverbrook from the mid 1920s until Beaverbrook's death in 1964. Early life and career Wardell was educated at Eton College and Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He served in the 10th Royal Hussars, a British cavalry unit, during World War I. He was wounded at the Battle of Ypres. Wardell left military service in 1925 with the rank of captain. Wardell was "a man of high social connections", and a friend of Edward VIII, then Prince of Wales. He lost his left eye in a fox hunting accident in 1925. Wardell (band)
Wardell is an indie folk rock band formed by siblings Sasha and Theo Spielberg. History Sasha and Theo Spielberg are siblings and children of director Steven Spielberg and actress Kate Capshaw. Theo's adoptive father is Jewish, and his adoptive mother is a convert to Judaism; both are Sasha's biological parents. They performed together as kids in puppet shows and cover bands but only began their band in earnest in 2010, with live shows starting in 2012. They started collaborating in college, when Theo asked Sasha to sing over a chord progression he had been working on, which became the song "Opossum" and was named an NPR Song of the Day in late 2011. Sasha has said the duo created the song quickly, "like, in an hour". The song brought the band national exposure and led to their signing with Roc Nation. Wardell Stephen Curry (born June 25, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1986 until 2002 and retired as the Charlotte Hornets' all-time leader in points (9,839) and three-point field goals made (929). Curry currently works as a color commentator, alongside Eric Collins, on Charlotte Hornets television broadcasts. He is the father of NBA players Stephen Curry and Seth Curry. William Wilkinson Wardell (1823–1899) was a civil engineer and architect, notable not only for his work in Australia, the country to which he emigrated in 1858, but for a successful career as a surveyor and ecclesiastical architect in England and Scotland before his departure. In Australia, Wardell designed many public buildings. Most notable were St Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne; Government House, Melbourne; St John's College, University of Sydney and St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney. Wardell is a city in Pemiscot County, Missouri, United States. The population was 310 at the 2020 census. It annexed North Wardell in 2007. History A post office called Wardell has been in operation since 1902. The community's name is derived from the last name of R. L. Warren, an early citizen, and a dell near the original town site.
