War of Ages (sometimes abbreviated WoA; formerly known as Point Zero) is an American Christian metal band formed in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 2002. The band's self-titled debut album ''War of Ages'' was released in 2005, and in February 2006, they were moved to the Facedown Records roster and recorded their second full-length album, ''Pride of the Wicked'', released in September 2006. ''Arise and Conquer'' was released in 2008. The band's fifth offering ''Eternal'', was released in 2010. Their seventh studio album '' Supreme Chaos'' was released in 2014. Their eighth studio album ''Alpha'' was released in 2017, their ninth album, ''Void'', 2019. History War of Ages began in 2002, originally as Point Zero. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Death growls and gang vocals are common. 1990s metalcore bands were inspired by hardcore while later metalcore bands were inspired by melodic death metal bands like At the Gates and In Flames. Facedown Records is a Christian rock record label based in Fallbrook, California that is devoted to hardcore punk and metalcore bands (Christian and secular) with a few death metal acts such as Immortal Souls and Indwelling.
