War Of The Daleks
''War of the Daleks'' is an original novel written by John Peel (writer), John Peel, published in 1997, based on the long-running British science fiction on television, science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It features the Eighth Doctor and Sam Jones (Doctor Who), Sam. This story chronicles the demise of Davros once and for all and the rising of the supreme Dalek force. This also conflicts the destruction of Skaro which has survived thanks to a larger plot played by the Dalek Prime. Plot The story opens up with the Doctor and Sam in the TARDIS doing some maintenance when they are collected by a ship which holds an escape pod containing Davros. A group of Thal (Doctor Who), Thals arrive; they want Davros to alter their species so they will be better able to fight the Daleks. John Peel (writer)
John Peel (born 1954) is a British writer, best known for his TV series tie-in novels and novelisations. He has written under several pseudonyms, including "John Vincent" and "Nicholas Adams". He lives in Long Island, New York. While his wife is a US citizen, Peel continues to travel under a British passport. Career During the 1980s, Peel wrote a licensed spin-off novel based on the popular 1960s TV series ''The Avengers (TV series), The Avengers'', titled ''Too Many Targets''. He is also known for his various books based on ''Doctor Who'', ''Star Trek'' and ''James Bond Jr.'' (written as "John Vincent"). Dalek Variants
Since their first appearance in 1963 there have been a number of variant models of the Daleks, a fictional alien race in the BBC science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. First seen in the serial ''The Daleks'' (1963–64), the outward manifestation is portrayed as a powerful, technically advanced travel machine in which a hideous and malevolent mutant, the Dalek creature, resides. Although the general appearance of the Daleks has remained the same, details of both the casing and the mutant creature have changed over time. Alterations were made to accommodate the requirements of specific plot elements in various serials and episodes or at the request of producers, designers and directors to revitalise the Dalek appearance. The Power Of The Daleks
''The Power of the Daleks'' is the completely missing third serial of the fourth season of British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', and which was first broadcast in six weekly parts from 5 November to 10 December 1966. It is the first full story to feature Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. In this serial, the new Doctor (Troughton) and his travelling companions Polly (Anneke Wills) and Ben (Michael Craze) land on the planet Vulcan. There they find an Earth colony, where the lead scientist Lesterson ( Robert James) discovers a 200-year-old alien capsule containing three inactive Daleks. ''Destiny of the Daleks'' is the first serial of the 17th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts on BBC1 from 1 September to 22 September 1979. The Thals are a fictional race of humanoid aliens, originating from the planet Skaro, in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. The species first appeared in the 1963–64 serial ''The Daleks'', and were created by writer Terry Nation. Fictional history In ''The Daleks'' (1963–64), the Thals describe themselves as a warrior race who fought a terrible neutronic war against the peaceful Dals, with whom they shared the planet Skaro. Radiation from the war caused both species to mutate. In the case of the Thals the mutation came full-circle, returning them to their original appearance of blond humanoids. They have renounced violence and become pacifist farmers. Skaro
Skaro is a fictional planet in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. It was created by the writer Terry Nation as the home planet of the Daleks. In ''The Daleks'' (1963–64), Skaro is described as being the twelfth planet from its sun, while in ''Genesis of the Daleks'' (1975) it is stated that Skaro is situated in the "Seventh Galaxy".
