Wang Jianwei (; born October 28, 1958) is a new media, performance, and installation artist based in Beijing, China. Childhood and early life, 1958–1983 Born in a village of Suining, Sichuan Province, China in 1958, Wang Jianwei lived in a traditional military family till 1966. Both of his parents were soldiers, and he spent his childhood in military camps, also known as ''budui dayuan''. In 1966, the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was launched by the Chinese Communist Party leaders, which advocated "the abolishment of the four olds" (old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits). During this time, Wang's father relocated to a village farm to receive reeducation from peasants and workers until 1974, when he returned to his job and reunited with his family. 1989 China Avant-Garde Exhibition
China/Avant-Garde Exhibition is one of the most significant exhibitions in the history of Chinese contemporary art. Opening on February 5, 1989 at the National Art Museum of China (previously called the National Art Gallery), this exhibition included over 186 artists and approximately 300 artworks from all over China. Widely regarded as a pivotal moment in the history of contemporary Chinese art, the exhibition provided a comprehensive view of the experimental works that emerged in mainland China after 1985. Examples of experimental artworks included Xiao Lu's impromptu performance where the artist used a loaded handgun to shoot her own artwork called ''Dialogue'' and Wu Shanzhuan in his work called ''Big Business'' sold frozen shrimp in a makeshift market stand. The Sharjah Biennial is a large-scale contemporary art exhibition that takes place once every two years in the city of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The first Sharjah Biennial took place in 1993, and was organized by the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information until it is reorientation in 2003 by Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi. Culturescapes
Culturescapes (or: CULTURESCAPES) is a multidisciplinary Swiss arts festival devoted to inter-cultural exchange. The festival, which takes place in autumn, showcases the cultural landscape of a different region, nation or city. Although based in Basel the festival extends to many other places in Switzerland, such as Aarau, Bern, Chur, Zurich, Geneva or Bellinzona. Founded in the year 2002, the festival mainly focussed on Eastern European countries at the beginning. However, with festival editions devoted to countries like Turkey, Azerbaijan, China or Israel the festival gradually expanded its scope. To mark its tenth anniversary in 2012 Culturescapes focussed on Moscow, for the first time placing the topography of a city at the centre of the festival. Brighton Fringe is an open-access arts festival held annually in Brighton, England. It is the largest annual arts festival in England and one of the largest fringe festivals in the world. The programme of 2018 included 1008 events at over 166 venues across 4 weeks, in May and June. Grey relational analysis (GRA) was developed by Deng Julong of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It is one of the most widely used models of grey system theory. GRA uses a specific concept of information. It defines situations with no information as black, and those with perfect information as white.
