Wang Geon
Taejo of Goryeo (31 January 877 – 4 July 943), also known as Taejo Wang Geon (; ), was the founder of the Goryeo dynasty, which ruled Korea from the 10th to the 14th century. Taejo ruled from 918 to 943, achieving unification of the Later Three Kingdoms in 936. Background Wang Geon was born in 877 to a powerful maritime merchant family based in Songak (modern Kaesong) as the eldest son of Wang Ryung (). According to the ''Pyeonnyeon tongnok'' (편년통록; 編年通錄), quoted in the ''Goryeosa'', Wang Geon's grandfather Jakjegeon was the son of Emperor Suzong of Tang. According to the ''Encyclopedia of Korean Culture'' and the ''Doosan Encyclopedia'', this is hagiographical. This is a list of monarchs of Korea, arranged by dynasty. Names are romanized according to the South Korean Revised Romanization of Korean. McCune–Reischauer romanizations may be found at the articles about the individual monarchs. Gojoseon Gojoseon (2333 BC – 108 BC) was the first Korean kingdom. According to legend, it was founded by Dangun in 2333 BC. Bronze Age archaeological evidence of Gojoseon culture is found in northern Korea and Liaoning. By the 9th to 4th century BC, various historical and archaeological evidence shows Gojoseon was a flourishing state and a self-declared kingdom. Grand Lady Heonmok
Grand Lady Heonmok of the Gyeongju Pyeong clan () was the daughter of Pyeong-Jun who became the 7th wife of Taejo of Goryeo and mother of Prince Sumyeong. From all of Taejo's wives and consorts, just she who held the highest title but still below the queen, which indicated that her father made an important contribution to established the new Goryeo Dynasty and possibility that he was probably a behind-the-scenes figure who promoted Silla's noble wealth couldn't be ruled out. Lady Daeseowon
Lady Daeseowon of the Dongju Gim clan (; ) was the daughter of Gim Haeng-Pa who became the 20th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. She was the older sister of Lady Soseowon, her husband's 21st wife. In 922, their father moved to Seogyeong (nowadays Pyeongyang City) under King Taejo's command. One day, when Taejo went to Seogyeong, Gim Haeng-Pa met him on the road with the group he was hunting with and asked Taejo to come to his house. Taejo then agree this and came to Gim's house which he had his two daughters to take care of Taejo for one night each. However, after that day, Taejo didn't return again and as a result, that two women went back home and became nuns. Lady Yehwa
Lady Yehwa of the Haeju Wang clan () was the daughter of Wang-Yu who became the 19th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. Her father was initially Bak-Yu (박유), but later changed into "Wang" after Taejo established the new Goryeo dynasty. From this point, Wang-Yu became the founder of ''Haeju Wang clan'' (해주 왕씨, 海州王氏). Lady Sogwangjuwon
Lady Sogwangjuwon of the Wang clan (; ) or known as Lady Ham () was the daughter of Wang-Gyu who became the 17th wife of Taejo of Goryeo and bore him a son, Prince Gwangjuwon. Her older sister became Taejo's 16th wife and her younger sister became Hyejong's 2nd wife. Lady Heungbokwon
Lady Heungbokwon of the Hongju Hong clan (; ) was the daughter of Hong-Gyu, ''Hongju Hong clan'' (홍주 홍씨, 洪州 洪氏)'s founder. who became the 12th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. Her father, Hong-Gyu's first name was Geung-Jun (긍준), a nobles from Seongju. Lady Cheonanbuwon
Lady Cheonanbuwon of the Gyeongju Im clan (; ) was the daughter of Im-Eon who became the 11th wife of Taejo of Goryeo. Her father was a Cheonan Governor and two times came to Taejo as his envoy in 927. She bore Taejo 2 sons. Their first son married a daughter of King Jeongjong and Queen Munseong, but had no any issue. This son later murdered in the aftermath of the revenge law enforced by King Gyeongjong, his half nephew.
