Wang Fengchun
Wang Fengchun (; born February 2, 1982, in Harbin, Heilongjiang; usually referred to in the media as Fengchun Wang) is a Chinese curler. He is the skip of the national team. Wang was selected by the Chinese government to play the sport of curling. In China, the national team curls as their profession. By 2002, he played in his first international event- when he played third for Xu Xiaoming at the Pacific Curling Championships. The Chinese team finished fifth that year. He also played in the 2004 and 2005 Pacific Championships, finishing fourth both years before winning the bronze medal at the 2006 Pacific Championships. In 2007, he played in his last tournament as third for Xu, when China won a bronze at the Asian Winter Games. He was promoted as skip after that. In November that year, China won the gold medal at the Pacific Curling Championships, qualifying the country for their first ever World Championships. The curling competition of the 2009 New Zealand Winter Games was held at the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, New Zealand. Both the men's and women's competitions concluded on 29 August 2009. In the men's event Australia won gold after defeating China in the final, while in the women's event Japan won the gold, also beating China in the final. Overview The curling competition was held from 23 August to 29 August 2009 at the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, New Zealand. It comprised a men's competition and a women's competition. Following the finals of both competitions an on-ice closing ceremony and medal presentation was held and then later an awards dinner. David Murdoch
David Matthew Murdoch (born 17 April 1978) is a retired Scottish curler from Stirling. As the Scotland skip, he and his former team of Ewan MacDonald, Warwick Smith, Euan Byers and Peter Smith are the 2006 and 2009 World Curling Champions. Representing Great Britain, he has been skip at three Winter Olympics, Torino 2006, finishing fourth, Vancouver 2010, finishing fifth and Sochi 2014, where he won an Olympic silver medal. He currently serves as a coach, performance team manager and consultant for British Curling. Kevin Martin (born July 31, 1966), nicknamed "The Old Bear" and "K-Mart", is a Canadian retired curler from Edmonton, Alberta, an Olympic, World and four-time Canadian champion and a member of the World Curling Hall of Fame. The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. A game usually consists of eight or ten ends. The player can induce a curved path, described as ''curl'', by causing the stone to slowly rotate as it slides.
