Wang Dongfeng
Wang Dongfeng (; born February 1958) is a Chinese politician and former Communist Party Secretary of Hebei province. He was formerly the Mayor of Tianjin, one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of China. Born in Xi'an, Wang spent his early career in his home province of Shaanxi. He then served in the State Administration for Industry and Commerce before being transferred to Tianjin. Biography Wang Dongfeng was born in Xi'an. He graduated with a master's degree in economics from Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 1981 he began work at a tourism supplier company in Xi'an. Between 1984 and 1986 he worked for the city's financial and trade affairs office. Then he made his way into the Xi'an municipal government, serving as secretary in the city's party committee general office. In 1998, he was named the director of the Industry and Commerce Administration of Shaanxi province. Then in 2001 he was named mayor of Weinan. He then became party chief of Tongchuan. A direct-controlled municipality is the highest level classification for cities used by unitary states, with status equal to that of the provinces in the respective countries. A direct-controlled municipality is similar to, but not the same as, a federal district, a common designation in various countries for a municipality that is not part of any state, and which usually hosts some governmental functions. Usually direct-controlled municipality are under central government control with limited power. Many countries have adopted this system with some different variations. Huai Jinpeng (; born December 1962) is a Chinese computer scientist and politician. He is the current party secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Biography Huai was born in Harbin but traces his ancestry to Jinan, Shandong province. He graduated from Jilin University of Industry (now merged into Jilin University) in 1984.
