Walton Edwin Cruise (May 6, 1890 – January 6, 1975), born in Childersburg, Alabama, was an outfielder for the St. Louis Cardinals (1914, 1916–1919) and Boston Braves (1919–1924). An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. Childersburg is a city in Talladega County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It was incorporated in 1889. At the 2020 census, the population was 4,754. It has a history dating back before 1540, when it was noted as a village of the Coosa Nation visited by the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto.
