Walter T. Skallerup Jr.
Walter T. Skallerup Jr. (1921-1987) was an American lawyer who served in various roles at the United States Department of Defense, most notably as General Counsel of the Navy from 1981 until his death in 1987. Biography Walter T. Skallerup Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1921. He attended Swarthmore College, receiving his B.A. During World War II, Skallerup served in the United States Navy as an aviation support officer trained in radar systems. After the war, he enrolled at Yale Law School, receiving his LL.B. in 1947. After law school, Skallerup was involved in the private practice of law for a number of years. Skallerup joined the United States Department of Defense in 1962, serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Policy under United States Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. Atomic Safety And Licensing Board
The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel (ASLBP) is an independent adjudicatory division of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, authorized under the Atomic Energy Act. The ASLBP consists of administrative judges that differ from other administrative law judges in other Federal agencies, most notably that Licensing Boards have technical judges who are experts in their relative field of study (e.g. nuclear engineering, nuclear medicine, hydrology, etc.). Licensing Boards hear claims (or contentions, as they are called) by petitioners who seek to intervene in a licensing action before the NRC. Coleman Hicks (26 April 1943 – 3 August 2004) was a United States lawyer who served as General Counsel of the Navy from 1979 to 1981. Biography Coleman Hicks was born in Columbus, Ohio, and raised in Mason City, Iowa. Hicks was educated at Princeton University, receiving his B.A. in 1965. Bill Bradley, whom Hicks had met at a conference of high school students involved with student government, was one of Hicks' roommates at Princeton. After Princeton, Hicks enrolled at Yale Law School, graduating in 1968. In 1969, Hicks joined the Judge Advocate General's Corps, U.S. Navy. In summer 1971, he was posted as an instructor at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, but he left this position after only a few weeks when he became personal assistant to National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger. Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they can also have other causes. Over 100 types of cancers affect humans. Tobacco use is the cause of about 22% of cancer deaths. Ronald Wilson Reagan ( ; February 6, 1911June 5, 2004) was an American politician, actor, and union leader who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989.
