''The Slaughter of St. Teresa's Day'' is a play by Australian author Peter Kenna. Plot Oola Maguire, a bookie, holds a party every St. Teresa's Day. The guests are the people she has quarreled with in the past year, and there is only one rule: Firearms must be parked in the hall. Her daughter Thelma is brought home from the convent she attends with two nuns. Background It won a National Playwrights Competition in 1958 and was produced in Sydney the following year by the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust. The judges of the competition ere Hugh Hunt and Kylie Tennant. Judge Kylie Tennant called it "a witty commentary on human behaviour, passion, pride and vanity and the curious innocence which keeps people lovable for all their cunning and downright wickedness. It was the first live TV serial from the ABC. It was based on a script by Rex Rienits adapted from his 1948 radio serial. The radio serial was rebroadcast in 1953. ''Ballad for One Gun'' is a 1963 Australian television film about Ned Kelly broadcast on ABC. It was originally aired 17 July 1963 in Sydney and shown at later dates in other parts of Australia. It was written by Phillip Grenville Mann. The director Ray Menmuir called it "“definitely a new approach and a new treatment of the whole Ned Kelly legend." Australian drama was relatively rare on television at the time, although there had been a TV play called ''Ned Kelly'' (1959) produced. ''A Dead Secret'' is a 1957 play by Rodney Ackland. It is a murder drama set in 1911 London and is based on the Seddon murder trial. Plot Insurance agent Frederick Dyson owns a house in London with his wife. Among the lodgers is a misery elderly woman, Miss Lummus, who hoards her money in the house. When she is murdered, Dyson is charged with the crime. 1959 British television version A version aired 3 March 1959 as part of British television series ''ITV Play of the Week''. ''The Prisoner of Zenda'' is an 1894 adventure novel by Anthony Hope, in which the King of Ruritania is drugged on the eve of his coronation and thus is unable to attend the ceremony. Political forces within the realm are such that, in order for the king to retain the crown, his coronation must proceed. Fortuitously, an English gentleman on holiday in Ruritania who resembles the monarch is persuaded to act as his political decoy in an effort to save the unstable political situation of the interregnum.
