Walter Silva
Walter Silva (born January 4, 1977) is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres. Career Mexican League/San Diego Padres Silva played in the Mexican League from 2002 to 2008. On February 21, 2009 Silva was invited to spring training by the San Diego Padres. After a good spring he made the opening day roster as the team's third starter in the pitching rotation. Silva made his Major League debut on April 8, 2009, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched five innings allowing two Run (baseball), runs on five Hit (baseball), hits with a strikeout, and earned the Win–loss record (pitching), no decision, leaving the game tied at 2–2. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
