Walter Shublom
Walter R. Shublom was a former high school, junior college and college basketball coach, and minor league baseball player. He was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame in 1982. Early life and playing career After graduating from Salina, KS High School in 1941, Shublom played one season of minor league baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Coaching career After obtaining his undergraduate degree at Southeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Southeast Missouri State University) and graduate degree at the University of Kansas, Shublom was hired in 1952 to join the faculty of Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas as a history teacher and assistant baseball and basketball coach. In 1954, he was hired as varsity basketball coach at Wyandotte High School. Salina, Kansas
Salina is a city in, and the county seat of, Saline County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,889. In the early 1800s, the Kanza tribal land reached eastward from the middle of the Kansas Territory. In 1858, settlers from Lawrence founded the Salina Town Company with a wagon circle, under constant threat of High Plains tribal attacks from the west. It was named for the salty Saline River. Saline County was soon organized around this township, and in 1870, Salina incorporated as a city. As the westernmost town on the Smoky Hill Trail, Salina boomed until the Civil War by establishing itself as a trading post for westbound immigrants, gold prospectors bound for Pikes Peak, and area American Indian tribes. Southeast High School (Missouri)
Southeast High School is a high school located at 3500 East Meyer Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. It is part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. It was previously located at 3500 East Meyer Boulevard in the 2006-2007 school year. It was in the same building as Manual Career & Technical Center. School background Southeast High School was founded in 1937 at 3500 East Meyer Boulevard, and is currently the African Centered Education Collegium Campus. Paseo Academy, also referred to as Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts and sometimes Paseo High School, is a magnet performing arts high school located at 4747 Flora Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City Public Schools. Background Paseo Academy is named for Paseo Boulevard, a main street in Kansas City, which is one block west of the school. The school sits on top of a hill with the Kansas City Middle School of the Arts behind it. The old Paseo High School building, designed by Charles A. Smith in 1924 and completed on September 9, 1926, was slated for demolition in 1990. It was not a performing arts school until the current building was built. Lee's Summit High School is a high school in Lee's Summit, Missouri, United States. It is located near downtown Lee's Summit on Blue Parkway, next to the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Route 291. It is one of three high schools in the Lee's Summit R-VII School District. History The original building, built in 1953 using military surplus paint, has been added onto throughout the years. The first addition in 1963 was built to house freshmen and sophomores. Later, a Field-house and Performing Arts center were added (1963 and 1979 respectively). Homer Walter Drew Jr. (born September 29, 1944) is an American former college basketball coach and administrator who coached at Washington State Cougars men's basketball, Washington State, LSU, Bethel College (Indiana), Bethel College, Indiana-South Bend, and Valparaiso Crusaders men's basketball, Valparaiso. He retired from college basketball in 2011 with 640 career wins, which ranked him sixth amongst all Division I coaches at the time of his retirement. Raytown South Senior High School is a high school located in Raytown, Missouri. The school was established in 1961, and graduated its first class of seniors in 1964. As Raytown became less of a "destination-suburb" in the 1990s, the enrollment fell drastically. Academics Debate The forensics program has had several national champions in various styles of debate, public forum, expository speaking and poetry reading. Choir From 1984-2009, the choir program saw several dozen student attain All-State status. Warren "Bud" Lathrop (March 22, 1936 – July 12, 2018) was an American high school basketball coach in Missouri. With 955 wins, he ranked seventh in total wins in the history of high school boys basketball in the United States at the time of his retirement. Early life Lathrop 1954 attended Raytown High School where he graduated in 1954. He attended William Jewell College from 1954 to 1959 and lettered in both cross country and basketball. Central High School (formerly Central Academy of Excellence) is a high school located at 3221 Indiana Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City Public Schools. Central was established in 1884 in order to help educate the growing population of Kansas City. The school colors are blue and white and the school's athletic teams are referred to as the "Eagles".
