Walter Pearce (English Cricketer)
Walter Kennedy Pearce (2 April 1893 — 31 July 1960) was an English first-class cricketer, cricket administrator, and solicitor. The son of Arthur William Pearce (1858–1928) and his wife Frederica Emma, née Maund (1853–1932), he was born in April 1893 at Bassett in Southampton. He was educated at Malvern College. After completing his education at Malvern, Pearce was commissioned into the Hampshire Regiment as a second lieutenant in December 1912, with promotion to lieutenant in June 1914. He served with the Hampshire Regiment during the First World War, during which he was promoted to captain in April 1917, antedated to June 1916. Following the war, he relinquished his commission in July 1921. Transferring to the Territorial Army Reserve, he was promoted to major in October 1922. Walter Pearce (New Zealand Cricketer)
Walter Charles Pearce (29 April 1870 – 20 March 1951) was a New Zealand cricketer who played first-class cricket for Canterbury from 1894 to 1903 and represented New Zealand in the days before New Zealand played Test cricket. Wally Pearce was a pace bowler who generated considerable pace from a short run-up and bowled an effective yorker, and a hard-hitting batsman with a crouching, ungainly style. He played an important part in New Zealand's first victory. In the match against the touring New South Wales team in 1895–96 he scored 47 in each innings, hitting out effectively after New Zealand were in trouble in the second innings, and took four wickets. Pearce married Marion Wyatt in Christchurch on 21 December 1898. She died on 14 January 1943. They had two daughters. Walter Bryan Pearce (25 July 1929 – 11 January 2007) was a British painter. He was recognised as one of the UK's leading naïve artists. Early life Bryan Pearce was born in St. Ives, Cornwall, which remained his home for the rest of his life. His father, Walter, was a butcher in St Ives, played rugby for Cornwall, and was later mayor of St Ives. His mother, Mary Warmington, was a painter from another local family. Pearce suffered from the congenital disease phenylketonuria, which affects the normal development of the brain. He attended a special needs school in the 1940s and 1950s and then, encouraged by his mother and, later, by other St. Ives artists, he began drawing and painting in watercolours in 1953 before moving on to oil paint on board and, later, conté crayon. ''Comeback Season'' is a 2006 film directed by Bruce McCulloch. It stars Ray Liotta as Walter Pearce, a married man who, with the help of local football star Skylar Eckerman (Sipos), tries to win back his wife (Headly) after cheating on her. Filming took place in Calgary, Alberta. One of the local iconic sites that this movie filmed at was Megatunes Inc, an independent music shop located in uptown Calgary that sold mainly blues and jazz while supporting independent musicians. The film premiered at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, and released to DVD in the United States on March 27, 2007.
