Walter Ralston Martin (September 10, 1928 – June 26, 1989) was an American Baptist Christian minister and author who founded the Christian Research Institute in 1960 as a parachurch ministry specializing as a clearing-house of information in both general Christian apologetics and in countercult apologetics. As the author of the influential ''The Kingdom of the Cults'' (1965), he has been dubbed by the conservative Christian columnist Michael J. McManusthe "godfather of the anti-cult movement". Walter Martin is an American musician and songwriter best known as a founding member of the New York City indie rock bands The Walkmen (co-writer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist 2000–2013) and Jonathan Fire*Eater (co-writer, organist 1994–1998). Following the Walkmen's break-up in 2013, Martin launched a critically acclaimed solo career and has subsequently released seven studio albums. In addition to his solo work, Martin composes original music for film, television, and commercials. Walter John Martin DCM (born 14 May 1883 in Woodford, England) was a Wales international rugby union player. He played club rugby predominantly for Newport, captaining the side and played county rugby for Monmouthshire. While playing for Newport, Martin faced the three major Southern Hemisphere teams, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. At international level he represented Wales on three occasions. Club career Martin joined Newport Rugby Club in 1904, and during his career would captain the club during one of the most successful era's for the club. At Newport he formed an incredibly successful partnership with Tommy Vile, and they would face the touring New Zealanders, South Africans and Australians together. International career Martin made his debut for Wales against Ireland at the Balmoral Showgrounds on 9 March 1912 as part of the Five Nations Championship. Walter Martin & Paloma Muñoz, also known as Martin & Muñoz are artists who collaborate to create dystopian sculptures and large photographic works often based on dioramas. Biography Walter Martin was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1953. He received his B.A. from Old Dominion University in Virginia and his M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University. Paloma Muñoz was born in Madrid, Spain in 1965. She received her B.A. from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and UNED. She is the daughter of Spanish artist Paloma Navares and sister of film maker and producer David Muñoz. Martin and Muñoz have been professional and personal partners since soon after they met in 1993. They live in Milford, Pennsylvania and maintain a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
