Hythe was a United Kingdom constituencies, constituency centred on the town of Hythe, Kent, Hythe in Kent. It returned two Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Members of Parliament to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons until 1832, when its representation was reduced to one member. The constituency was abolished for the 1950 United Kingdom general election, 1950 general election, and replaced with the new Folkestone and Hythe (UK Parliament constituency), Folkestone and Hythe constituency. Walter Fisher (medical Missionary)
Walter Fisher (29 November 1865 – 30 December 1935) was an English surgeon and missionary who worked in Zambia for over 40 years. Born in Greenwich, Fisher was raised in a large, middle-class home. A "Plym", Fisher used his faith as a foundation for his service to people. He completed his medical studies in Guy's Hospital and qualified as a surgeon in 1887. Fisher established the Kalene Mission Hospital in 1906 in the remote northwest corner of Zambia. The mission expanded to the Mwinilnga district in Zambia's North-Western Province and to neighboring areas of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The hospital was known for embracing the local Zandu culture. A school, orphanage, clinic, and farm were later added to the services at Kalene. Walter Fisher (1931–2018) was an American academic credited with formalizing Kenneth Burke's Dramatism and introducing the narrative paradigm to communication theory. Fisher was Professor Emeritus at the Annenberg School for Communication. Fisher's body of work is based on the concept that people are essentially storytellers, referred to as narrative theory. Storytelling is one of the oldest and most universal forms of communication and so Fisher propounded that individuals approach their social world in a narrative mode and make decisions and act within this narrative framework History Narrative theory was developed by Walter Fisher. Walter Kenrick Fisher (February 1, 1878 – November 2, 1953) was an American zoologist, evolutionary biologist, illustrator and painter. He taught in Stanford University before eventually becoming Emeritus Professor in Zoology until his retirement in 1943. Fisher was the son of ornithologist Albert Kenrick Fisher. Early life Walter K. Fisher was born on February 1, 1878 in Ossining, New York. His father was Albert Kenrick Fisher and his mother was Alwilda Fisher (''née'' Merritt). As a boy, Fisher explored the countryside around his home in the Hudson Valley, and when he was older conducted similar explorations around Washington, D.
